The slots are
used for connecting the modules or the cards to interface the components
with the motherboard. The memory slots are used to connect memory modules,
e.g. RAM. There are two types of memory module used, ‘Single Inline
Memory Module’ (SIMM) and ‘Dual Inline Memory Module’
(DIMM). ‘Peripheral Component Interface’ (PCI) slots are used
for connecting PCI based devices like display cards, sound cards or SCSI
cards. ‘Accelerated Graphics Port’ (AGP) slot is used for connecting
AGP card. It is a dedicated slot to provide faster access to graphics display,
thus enhancing the visual quality.
